The practical utility of our EvoquerBOT hinges on how often users can complete their tasks. We believe that enhancing the task-oriented metrics will take overall user satisfaction to the next level.
Haoran Zhang - Team leader
Zhang's subject matter expertise is Information Extraction, Logical Reasoning, and NLP for social goods. She has several first-author publications at top-tier AI/ML/NLP conferences including AAAI 2020 and EMNLP 2020. She also has significant experience in building large-scale NLP application systems, and is a co-author of the Best Demo Paper Award at NAACL 2021 for their work on COVID-19 Literature Knowledge Graph Construction and Drug Repurposing Report Generation. In this project, she is responsible for user-centered design based on Cognitive Science for mental load reduction, AI-powered task planning and progress management, and Multitask scheduling over multiple sessions.
Yusen Zhang
Zhang is a second-year CS Ph.D. student at Penn State University, advised by Dr. Rui Zhang. He received his master’s degree from Emory University, advised by Dr. Jinho D. Choi. His research interests lie in applying Deep Learning for Natural Language Processing, focusing on Natural Language Generation.
Nan Zhang
Zhang is a third-year PhD student in Information Sciences and Technology. Nan's expertise is in dialog summarization and UI/UX designs. He has been working on faithfulness enhancement and medical knowledge incorporation for medical dialogs. In this project, he will create dialog summarization for task resumption and UI/UX designs.
Allen Gao
Gao is a senior honors undergraduate student double majoring in Computer Science and Math. Allen has extensive experience in entrepreneurship by creating impact AI solutions. He is the Technology Lead of a top-5 team in the 2021 Nittany AI Challenge that uses NLP models for a smart online learning management web application. In this project, He will work on knowledge base construction and question answering.
Rishabh Bhatt
Bhatt is a second-year master's student in Computer Science and Engineering. Rishabh's research interest focuses on using vision and language models to help enhance user interaction with machines. He will work on incorporating multimodal (voice and vision) customer experiences in conversational AI.
Harsh Maniar
Maniar is a second-year master's student in Computer Science and Engineering. Harsh's expertise includes Machine Learning, Data Mining, Natural Language Processing and Data Analysis. He will work on data annotation and processing in this project.
Vishnu Dasu
Dasu is a first-year master's student in Computer Science and Engineering. Vishnu's research interest is in fairness of ML algorithms. He will work on natural language understanding and dialog safety in this project.
Yik Chung Chan
Chan is a senior undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science. Chan has extensive experience in data science and data mining. He will work on data annotation and knowledge management in this project.
Parker Sell
Sell is a first-year master's student in Computer Science and Engineering. Parker's research interest is in the intersection of natural language processing and computer vision. He will work on recommendation and multimedia on this project.
Salika Dave
Dave is a first-year master's student in Computer Science and Engineering. Sal's research interest is in natural language processing. She will work on natural language understanding and multimodal learning on this project.
Rui Zhang - Faculty advisor
Dr. Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department of Penn State University and a co-director of the PSU NLP Lab. His research interest lies in Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. He served as Area Chair at EMNLP 2022, NLPCC 2022, NAACL 2021, EMNLP 2021, NLPCC 2021. He received the 2020 Amazon Research Award. He hold B.S. degrees from both Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of Michigan in 2015 and received his Ph.D. from Computer Science Department at Yale University in 2020.
