Yesterday, the Amazon Books editors announced their selections for the Best Books of 2023. The annual list is vetted by a team of editors who read more than a thousand books each year and share their recommendations via the Amazon Book Review.
The editors also break out the top 20 books in several categories — including general-interest science. After reviewing titles released from January through now, Amazon Books editors chose Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity by Peter Attia as this year’s best science book.
“We are thrilled to name Outlive as our best science book of 2023. It’s a book that you’ll devour and want to hand to everyone you know,” said Al Woodworth, Amazon Books senior editor. “There are so many great books on this list. Whether you’re looking to understand the dangers and consequences of our hotter world (Fire Weather by John Vaillant) or explore ‘the secret party’ of the deep sea (The Underworld by Susan Casey) or be inspired by the potential of genome sequencing (The Genome Odyssey by Euan A. Ashley) or have a front-row seat next to Stephen Hawking as he works on his final theory (On the Origins of Time by Thomas Hertog), our list offers something for everyone.”
Below is the list of the top 20 picks of 2023 within the category of general-interest science.
