Starting on June 1, we will formally open the summer 2021 call for proposal for Amazon Research Awards (ARA) for Amazon Advertising. The deadline for submission is July 9, 2021.
Areas of interest for the call for proposal include, but are not limited to, the following: measuring the audience journey and helping brands move the needle on them; achieving synergy among actions to reach the right audience at the right time; leveraging online assets through machine learning; and enabling advertisers.
Proposals will be reviewed for the quality of their scientific content, creativity, and their potential for impact at scale. Proposals related to theory, practice, and novel new techniques are all welcome.
"We recognize that solving many of the hardest problems in advertising requires mechanisms that bring together the best talent in academia, and industry," said Saeed Bagheri, director of analytics and insights at Amazon Advertising. "Amazon Research Awards has built a strong brand in academia and it helps us engage with the top talent in academia to address current and pressing challenges such as evaluating upper funnel advertising."
“The world of advertising is changing at a faster pace than ever," added Amazon Scholar Oded Netzer, Arthur J. Samberg Professor of Business at Columbia University. "These changes bring with them an ever-evolving set of important challenges that Amazon, advertisers, policy makers and academics involved in advertising analytics need to tackle. Amazon Advertising Research Awards is aimed at bringing together the brightest minds in the field and foster collaboration between Amazon and academic researchers to attempt to address such challenges.”
ARA provides grant recipients unrestricted funds and AWS Promotional Credits. Funded projects are assigned an Amazon research contact, and recipients also receive training resources, including AWS tutorials and hands-on sessions with Amazon scientists and engineers.
